Dancing Horizons is a community-centered midwifery practice dedicated to safe, natural, and empowering birth experiences. We provide comprehensive care—prenatal visits, home and community birth support, postpartum and newborn services, and childbirth education—through a sliding-scale pricing model to keep care accessible.
Our philosophy is simple: every family deserves respectful, individualized attention and the freedom to make informed choices. By blending evidence-based practices with a calm, holistic approach, Dancing Horizons helps families welcome new life in the setting that feels right for them.
Serving families within roughly a two-hour radius of Pilot Grove, Missouri, we are committed to building a supportive birth community and nurturing the next generation of midwives through education and mentorship.

CPM
Janet Akremi, CPM, has been practicing midwifery since the 1970s. With decades of experience and a calm, intuitive approach, Janet offers prenatal, birth, postpartum, and newborn care that centers each family’s wishes. Her practice combines evidence-based knowledge with a deep respect for natural rhythms, ensuring you feel informed, empowered, and supported at every step.
Janet is also passionate about education—mentoring midwifery students and offering childbirth classes to help families and future midwives gain confidence. Whether you choose a home or community birth, her goal is simple: to create a safe, gentle space where families welcome new life with dignity and joy.
